Cryptocurrency investing is booming. These past few years show a steady growth in adoption. But who exactly are those investing?
Etoro, a multi asset brokerage and market analyst, have conducted a research to help better understand exactly who are the cryptocurrency investors. Etoro analysed its data from March 2017 to February 2018 – and the results are quite amusing.
So who are the investors?
Interesting picture comes from putting all of the data together. It seems that the average cryptocurrency investor is either a student (13.83%) or working in IT (15.05%) and a complete investing newbie (81.96%). He is also almost certainly a “he”. Apparently only 8.5% of women are cryptocurrency investors. Etoro’s research did not answer why a huge majority (91.5%) of all crypto-investors are male.
Some unexpected results come from the coin breakdown by gender. Ripple (XRP) seems to be women’s absolute favourite, while Bitcoin (BTC) showed a perfect 0% gender difference.
Ethereum Classic (ETC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC) are definitely preferred by men.
The overal picture is interesting. Cryptocurrency investors are mainly IT professionals or students, with no clue about trading. And if they’re women – they invest in Ripple. Heavily.
